Mid-Season Update

After a strong and consistent first half of the season with five podiums amongst eight top-ten finishes, Tyler has now started the most critical part of his season-his Hawaii preparation.

Tyler will complete five three week blocks consisting of two weeks hard, one week moderate, giving him a fifteen week preparation. At present he has completed two of the five training blocks and is already starting to feel things ‘click into place’. Most of this training is long, slow miles, with some tempo sections.

Throughout May and June Tyler was: 1st in the Tokio Sprint Triathlon in Bermuda, put on by one of his major sponsors Tokio Millennium Re; 2nd in the 24th of May Bermuda Half-Marathon where he was beaten by his cousin, a former world class 1500 meter runner (Stanford Nike Farm Team); 5th at the Mooseman 70.3; and most recently 3rd in the Philadelphia Triathlon the race of one of his major sponsors Philadelphia Insurance Companies.

Tyler is currently in Puerto Ricco, he will compete in the Central American and Caribbean Championships tomorrow.

His last race before Hawaii will be the Boulder 70.3 on the 8th of August.
